Rotorua is a tourist town, so there are no large shopping malls. Instead, there are many souvenir and gift shops around the city. In these you will find exquisite examples of Maori arts and crafts native timber carvings, woven natural fibers or carvings and sculptures of pounamu (greenstone/jade), bone, shell, and other natural materials.
