Kia
Ora and Welcome
Rotorua is one of the most famous destinations
in New Zealand, located at the heart of the
North Island in which there are 16 lakes, the
lakes have all formed from the craters of extinct
volcanoes. They were New Zealand's very first
hosts leading visitors to the eighth wonder
of the world ¡n the Pink & White Terraces,
Near Tarawera Mountain on the shores of Lake
Rotomahana silica-rich waters, warmed by the
magma below, slowly formed two glistening terraces.,were
destroyed by the Tarawera eruption in 1886.
From the moment people arrive
in
Rotorua they know they're somewhere quite different.
There is a scent of sulphur in the air, and
at nearby geothermal hotspots there are spouting
geysers, acrid-smelling mud pools bubbling and
belching, and warm geothermal pools and ponds
that create a kaleidoscope of color. Rotorua¡¦s
temperate climate is quite nice, at summer (November
to March) temperature range of 21ºC to
29ºC (daytime), and winter 9ºC to
16ºC (daytime).
By road to Auckland - 234 km, By road to Wellington
- 457 km.The Rotorua region covers 261,700 hectares
and has a population of almost 70,000 people, around
30 percent of the District's population has
Maori ancestry.
