Christchurch city is located midway down the East Coast of the South Island, and is the South Island's largest city. Christchurch City area is 45,240 Hectares. Temperature range 21ºC ~ 12ºC at summer , and 10ºC ~1ºC at winter.

Christchurch was established as a city nearly 150 years ago and has a population of over 320,000. Renowned the "Garden City of the World", is an ideal educational base and a thriving business center. The city landmark Christchurch Cathedral, an outstanding example of Gothic Revival architecture. Other grey-stone nineteenth century buildings, tree-lined avenues and extensive leafy parks give the city an elegant, rather English atmosphere.Other central city attractions include the beautiful Neo-Gothic Arts Center, the historic tram which loops the city center, the Christchurch Gondola and the International Antarctic Center. Christchurch is also a great place to go shopping - look for Ballantynes, New Zealand's oldest department store.

Christchurch is also a place for events and festivals. Whatever the season, you'll find a non-stop programme of entertainment with events like the Festival of Romance at summer, the International Buskers Festival at January, Winter carnival at winter, and Showtime Canterbury at November.
